TS4-1: Inclusive and multisectoral approach to effective preparedness
This session will focus on strengthening effective pre-disaster preparedness to effectively respond and build back better in recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction. It will explore the importance of inclusive and cross-sectoral approaches, and how effective preparedness saves lives and reduces losses. The session will highlight progress made in global disaster preparedness efforts, including anticipatory actions and multi-hazard approaches, while addressing challenges such as inadequate investment and the exclusion of vulnerable groups. Participants will discuss what changes are required to governance structures, finance mechanisms, science, technology and partnerships to enhance disaster preparedness for resilient recovery, focusing on actionable steps and increasing investment.
