Innovative approaches to enable drought preparedness and wildfire management in Switzerland

The learning lab will present and elaborate three initiatives/tools/platforms aiming at the enhancement of disaster preparedness for effective response.

Drought and wildfires, except in certain southern cantons, are not long known nor well-known natural hazards in Switzerland. As a consequence of climate change, forest fires are expected to become more frequent and severe in northern parts of Switzerland, where the authorities are less experienced and prepared to cope with them. The new tools are filling this gap and providing support for the local professionals.
