Learning how to use UNDRR’s Risk Understanding Tools: National Disaster Risk Assessment (NDRA) and Hazard Information Profiles (HiPs)
UNDRR has updated two foundational tools that practitioners use to understand and communicate about risk – “National Disaster Risk Assessment Methods” (NDRA) and the “Hazard Information Profiles” (HiPs). These documents provide an incredibly rich source of tools and methods for users, but their volume can seem daunting.
This Learning Lab will focus on an interactive, user-centred process of identifying the problem, finding appropriate resources, and practice in applying the resources. Experts who participated in the creation of the tools will be on hand to work with participants to explore what is possible and how easy it can be to use these powerful tools to understand the drivers of risk.
This lab session is foreseen as a hands-on exploration with participants. Printed and digital copies of the resources will be available, and a handful of experts will be on hand to meet participants and work with them in small groups to understand how to use the resources and understand risk more completely.
Main target audience:
- National government actors, international organization practitioners, sub-national government, sectors, risk science specialists, community-based organizations, science and technology community, academics, hazard specialists.
