Ministerial Roundtable: Safe Schools Now: Protecting Every Child from Disaster and Climate Risk

Please note this event is by invitation only

Every child has the right to learn and thrive in safe, inclusive environments — yet millions of children worldwide face daily risks from disasters and the growing impacts of climate change. Ministerial Roundtable 2 at GP2025 brings together Ministers and high-level representatives to address this urgent challenge and to champion the Safe Schools agenda as a key priority for risk reduction and climate adaptation.

This session will offer a platform to share experiences, showcase successful policies, and promote scalable solutions for safeguarding educational infrastructure, ensuring continuity of learning, and integrating risk reduction into education systems. Co-chaired by the Government of Switzerland and UNDRR, the roundtable will encourage forward-looking commitments and practical actions to strengthen the resilience of education sectors worldwide.

Session objectives:

  • Share experiences and best practices on protecting schools and education systems from disaster and climate risks.
  • Promote policy and financial commitments toward resilient education infrastructure and safe learning environments.
  • Foster collaboration between governments, communities, and key partners to scale up the Safe Schools agenda globally.
