TS4: Harnessing innovation: Advancing multi-hazard early warning systems through science, technology and local knowledge
This Thematic Session will explore how technological solutions enhance Early Warning Systems (EWS) across the entire value chain. The Session will showcase how modern technologies are being integrated with traditional methods to ensure that alerts reach a broader audience, including those in remote or underserved areas. Additionally, the use of trusted sources for message broadcast, such as government agencies and reputable organizations, enhances the credibility and reliability of the alerts, thereby improving community response. Meanwhile, the Session will also examine how to leverage both high- and low-tech solutions to adapt to local realities, especially for populations at risk. Finally, the Session will explore ways to scale scientific research to identify innovative solutions and improvements in existing technologies, ensuring that EWS remain effective and reliable in the face of evolving risks.
This Thematic Session will feature and showcase innovation and ideas from youth and youth-led organizations in EWS based on a call for submissions.
By combining various technologies and channels, relying on scientific research and showcasing youth, join us to explore how countries can create more robust and resilient EWS, ultimately saving lives and reducing the impact of disasters.
