Whole of Society Approach for Sendai Framework of Disaster Risk Reduction: A Collective Responsibility

This session will explore tailored approaches that enhance effective multilateralism in disaster risk reduction (DRR) while addressing local priorities. It will examine key challenges, gaps, barriers, and best practices, aiming to reinvigorate whole-of-society strategic planning and policymaking at local, national, regional, and global levels.

The session will further explore alignment with the Sendai Framework’s goal, four priorities, and seven targets, underscoring the importance of strengthened multilateral coordination, robust partnerships, and inclusive engagement, ensuring that people remain at the center of DRR initiatives. Additionally, it will promote collaboration among global and regional institutions to enhance the coherence and implementation of tools and mechanisms that help reduce risk exposure for vulnerable populations.
