Which future will you choose? – How to create smart DRR investment

Building on the SF MTR, the Summit of the Future and in preparation of the FFD4 Conference, GAR 2025 is focused on resilience investment and financing.

The Learning Lab will unpack the following elements:  

1. How to measure the cost of disaster impacts and climate change to prosperity, people and planet providing updated data on the costs of resilience deficits and the cost of investing in resilience. This part of the Learning Lab will be led by UNDRR who will also provide a summary of the report findings and recommendations.
2. The UN Futures Lab will then walk participants through the two scenarios and the possible future pathways and the circumstances these would create for future generations.
3. The participants will hear from experts from government representatives, private sector and  financial system actors which solutions already exist to invest in resilient approaches, and how they could be implemented through dedicated financial products and approaches.

The Learning Lab will be interactive and provide ample space for discussion with the audience. It will also showcase the interactive data platform developed for GAR 2025, and an interactive exercise will be conducted based on this data platform.

• DRR practitioners in Government, private investors and companies and framers of the post-2030 agenda.
