Implementation of Climate and DRR Gender Action Plan at National Level: Synergies and Strategies
This session will highlight pathways for governments and implementing agencies to effectively apply the Sendai GAP, ensuring synergies with other Gender Action Plans (such as under the UNFCCC and UNCBD) to maximize impact and cost-effectiveness. Discussions will focus on sharing tools, lessons, and best practices from community-level gender-responsive DRR initiatives, particularly those led by women and persons of diverse genders.
The session will also showcase inspiring leadership from at-risk groups in DRR, fostering knowledge exchange and actionable commitments from stakeholders to advance gender-responsive resilience-building at all levels.
Session objectives
- Encourage stakeholders, esp. national and local governments on prioritising recommended actions from the Sendai GAP and CCGAP building on existing knowledge and experience.
- Discuss the synergies between the different Gender Action Plans under UNFCCC, UNCBD etc. that will help national actors to avoid duplications and ensure cost-effectiveness in terms of implementation of the Sendai Gender Action Plan
Outcomes
- Share tools for the implementation of the 9 objectives of the Sendai Gender Action Plan.
- Showcase practical examples and key lessons from ground level initiatives in supporting gender responsive DRR and resilience building, especially those led by women and persons of diverse genders, facilitating potential replications especially by local and national governments in similar contexts.
- Share inspiration from the leadership demonstrated by women of various at-risk groups in DRR initiatives.
