Ministerial Roundtable: Accelerating Financing for Resilience: Tailored Solutions for Disaster Risk Reduction

Effective financing is the cornerstone of successful disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience-building. Yet, significant gaps remain in mobilizing financial resources — particularly for vulnerable communities and high-risk regions. Ministerial Roundtable 1 of the eighth session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025) provides a dedicated space for Ministers and high-level representatives to share strategies, commitments, and transformative solutions to close this financing gap.

Co-chaired by the Government of Switzerland and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), this high-level roundtable will focus on identifying innovative financing mechanisms, fostering public-private partnerships, and promoting inclusive approaches that ensure investments reach where they are most needed. Ministers will reflect on good practices, challenges, and the enabling conditions required to unlock financing for DRR, aligned with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Paris Agreement.

Session objectives:

• Highlight the financing challenges and opportunities for accelerating the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
• Share country-level experiences, best practices, and innovative solutions for disaster risk financing.
• Promote inclusive and equitable financing strategies that reach the most vulnerable populations.
