United for Resilience: Opening of the 3rd Stakeholder Forum at GPDRR 2025

The Opening Ceremony, led by the Advisory Group of the Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism (SEM AG), will bring together representatives from the host government, the previous host of GPDRR2022, and UNDRR. This session will outline a strategic roadmap for stakeholders to maximize their engagement throughout GPDRR2025 and beyond, setting the stage for collaborative and impactful participation as well as influencing the process.

The 3rd Stakeholder Forum at GPDRR 2025 will continue to facilitate meaningful engagement of the stakeholders to the Sendai Framework for DRR process emphasizing inclusive participation, accountability, and a whole-of-society approach to risk reduction. The forum will provides a critical opportunity for stakeholders to present their perspectives, amplify grassroots voices, and shape the outcomes of the GPDRR through collective messages and joint advocacy. Furthermore, the space will invite government representatives and other actors to work together to find solutions that promotes localisaiton and whole of society approaches to implement the Sendai Framework for DRR.

Session objectives

To formally inaugurate the 3rd Stakeholder Forum by highlighting the critical role of inclusive, multi-stakeholder engagement in advancing the global disaster risk reduction agenda and setting the tone for collaborative dialogue throughout the Forum.

Outcomes

A strong collective reaffirmation of the value of stakeholder engagement in DRR, with the Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism Advisory Group (SEM AG) presenting the Forum’s vision, priorities, and expectations—laying a shared foundation for meaningful participation and co-creation of recommendations toward the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework and beyond.
