Plenary 2: From Commitment to Action: Leadership for Resilient Recovery
As the world moves toward the 2030 deadline for the Sendai Framework, this session provides a platform to showcase leadership in action, highlight collaborative partnerships, and reaffirm commitments to strengthening recovery governance, financing, and coordination mechanisms.
Ahead of the World Resilient Recovery Conference (WRRC), multi-stakeholder consultations were conducted to identify good practices, gaps, challenges, and priority actions for strengthening recovery readiness. The consultations resulted in a set of priority actions for resilient recovery, providing a clear pathway to accelerate progress on Priority 4 of the Sendai Framework leading up to 2030.
Shifting from commitment to action requires a collective effort at all levels—from strengthening institutional arrangements and governance structures to scaling up financial investments and multi-stakeholder engagement. While the overall coordination of resilient recovery efforts will be led by the International Recovery Platform (IRP), this process has also fostered new partnerships to support implementation at national and regional levels.
Session objectives:
- Governments, financial institutions, private sector and other actors demonstrate leadership and showcase concrete actions that translate commitments into policy changes and investment strategies to strengthen resilient recovery.
- Provide clear recommendations to sustain momentum beyond WRRC, supporting the institutionalization of resilient recovery practices globally.
