Resilient Together: EU-Africa Caribbean Pacific Partnerships for Smarter Risk Governance and Strategic Investment

The Intra-ACP Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) side-event will showcase on how effective risk governance and smart investment can bolster resilience in African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries.

This side-event is part of the 11th European Development Fund Intra-ACP DRR Programme—a €100.5 million initiative funded by the European Union and UNDP/UNDRR. This initiative empowers OACPS member states in enhancing disaster resilience through better governance, early warning systems, and climate adaptation.

Bringing together government representatives, community leaders and DRR practitioners, the session will spotlight proven success stories, persistent challenges, and key lessons. We will highlight inclusive strategies that elevate the voices of women, youth, Indigenous peoples and persons with disabilities.

By fostering open dialogue and collaboration, the event seeks to inform global DRR policy with practical, locally driven insights. It will also strengthen connections among partners, ensuring that DRR actions and measures remain sustainable, inclusive, and responsive to real community-defined needs.

Session objectives

  • Establish the 11th EDF Intra-ACP DRR Programme as a leading force in global disaster risk reduction and climate resilience efforts by showcasing its tangible impact and achievements.
  • Bring together implementing partners, beneficiaries, and community representatives to surface challenges, exchange best practices, and foster synergies across ACP regions.
