TS2-4: Catalysing governance solutions for disaster and climate-related displacement
Each year, millions of people are displaced in the context of disasters and the adverse effects of climate change. This session will identify challenges and opportunities to strengthen governance of displacement in the context of disasters and climate change, with a particular focus on strengthening prevention through addressing the root causes of disaster displacement, scaling up anticipatory action, and learning from countries with frameworks for planned relocation. It will review progress to reduce, prepare for and respond to disaster displacement through implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. The session aims to bring together Governments, international organizations, civil society actors and other relevant stakeholders to accelerate progress in reducing disaster risk and addressing disaster displacement.
