Third Session of the Stakeholder Forum on Disaster Risk Reduction
The Third Session of the Stakeholder Forum on Disaster Risk Reduction, organized by the UNDRR-Stakeholder Mechanism (UNDRR-SEM), brings together stakeholders including civil society, women and gender groups, the private sector, persons with disabilities, youth and indigenous groups, from all parts of society and from around the world to provide an opportunity to share experiences, knowledge and strategies on different approaches to build disaster resilient societies. The event takes place during the Preparatory Days of the Global Platform (2-3 June 2025).
The forum provides an avenue for showcasing inclusive, all-of-society approaches in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, to learn from each other and to further accelerate the collective actions of addressing underlying risk drivers and strengthening disaster risk governance in our rapidly changing global risk landscape. The discussions are aligned with broader global agendas such as the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), underscoring the interconnectedness of these challenges
Objectives of the Third stakeholder Forum on DRR
- To provide a space for stakeholders to coordinate their collective actions and share experiences in implementing the Sendai Framework.
- To present and showcase solutions to move forward with the recommendations of the Sendai Framework Mid-Term Review, including means to effectively localise the agenda.
- To strengthen the partnerships among stakeholders, Member States and the UN to accelerate an all-of-society approach at all levels.
- To coordinate joint advocacy and other initiatives which will take place during the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025).
Expected Outcomes
- Increased collaboration between stakeholder groups, Member States and the UN System on identifying ways to better implement the Sendai Framework ensuring all-of-society approach.
- Innovative ideas on making disaster risk reduction planning and implementation more inclusive.
- A broader understanding of global practices on DRR and stakeholder engagement.
- A focused dialogue on progress made in implementing the Mid-Term Review of the Sendai Framework and sharing of actionable solutions to accelerate progress.
- Clear follow-up actions for continued collaboration, and plans to ensure progress is tracked.
