On 25 May 2022, the “Importance of investment in disaster risk reduction” was presented by the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) Tohoku University during the Ignite Stage at the Global Platform 2022.
GFCP’s Surabaya Earthquake Preparedness project was featured at the 7th session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2022) which took place in Bali, hosted by the Government of Indonesia and co-chaired by Indonesia and UNDRR.
The Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction and the Multi-hazard Early Warning Conference enabled the disaster risk reduction and hydro-meteorological communities to discuss their journeys around impact-based forecasting and anticipatory action.
The 2022 Global Platform for DRR brought together the DRR and climate communities around a concrete goal: finding solutions to scale up climate adaptation. And several early warning initiatives showed interesting parallels in taking this agenda forward.
